Many people shall come and say, “Come, and let us go up to the mountain of LORD. Isaiah 2:3
It was a new dawn and season for FHI’s maiden Missions Team Retreat and Training (MTRT). In previous years, the ministry had gathered only team leaders for a retreat and training at the beginning of every year, but it had to change this year due to the plans to build a Missions Team Movement.
The just-ended MTRT, which started on January 4th, and continued to January 9th, 2023, had two online sessions via Zoom and three in-person sessions at CDM Center, Ayi-Mensah, Accra.
The MTRT primarily focused on the 2023 year of “Let the Nations come to the mountain of the Lord.”
The half-night prayer that climaxed the three days of fasting and prayers encouraged all team members to pray fervently for the mountain experience of God’s power and glory. There were group Bible study discussions centred on the three focus areas of the year’s team; Church planting multiplication, mobilization of the unsaved and saved and disciple-making fellowship.
The best phrase that could describe the power-packed MTRT is prophetically practical. The seventeen missions team who participated in the MTRT had the mountain experience of effective prayers and prophetic directions for their lives and ministry.
Besides the seminars on organizing outreach and the practice of missions warfare, there was hands-on practical training on picture taking and editing, social media marketing, website management, and short message services (SMS) communication.
On the Sunday of the MTRT, the team took turns visiting the Christ Alive Ministry at Adenta and the Pleasant Place Church at Spintex. The purpose of the visit is to establish and strengthen the ministry’s relationship with local churches for sending missionaries to unreached people groups.
On the eve of the end of the MTRT was training on SMART Missions from Missionary Peter Higham from New Zealand through Zoom. The training opened the eyes of the missions team to the evolution of the media ministry and its strategic place in missions now and in the future.
The pinnacle of the gathering was the various teams taking the time to draft a team action plan from the 2023 ministry action plan and present it to the entire missions team for discussion and acceptance. In all, we had six missions teams at work; Prayer Army Team, Missions Field Team, Outreach Team, Ministry Coordination Team, Communications and Media Team, and Campus Representative Team.
We give all the Glory to God for a very successful MTRT. The testimony from our Bro. Nathaniel Saah, a prayer team member, sums it up as one of the best retreats the ministry has had in the last three years. The team is thankful to all speakers; Mr. Samuel Kofi Asiamah (FHI, Executive Director), Mr. Emmauel Parbey (Africa Enterprise), Mr. Believe Banin (Ibcreative), Missionary Peter Higham ( WEC, New Zealand) and Rev. Jacob Opata (Christian Medical Fellowship). To our energetic and spirit-filled team members, we say Ayeko! And God richly bless you. Lastly, the ministry thanks the Executive Council and all partners for their continued leadership, prayers and financial commitment. Thanks, and God richly bless us all.
